Pumpkin Carving Help Needed
Dear Room 212 families,
I am sorry for the late notice, but I was hoping to carve pumpkins with the class tomorrow (Thursday). If you are free on Thursday between 9:45 - 10:30 to help a small group carve a pumpkin please let me know. We will be doing this activity in the garden, with the help of Ms. O'Brien. I am hoping for 2-6 volunteers.
Also, if you are able to donate a pumpkin to the class, or loan us pumpkin carving tools that would be great! I need 8 pumpkins, and plan on purchasing them tonight, but will purchase fewer if you are able to donate one by bringing it to class Thursday morning. Please let me know as soon as possible if you're able to donate one. Thank you!
I truly appreciate all you do to support our class.
Thank you so much,
Marcy Johnson

Primary Elections tomorrow
The 5th grade Primary will be held tomorrow. Nominees should have their <90 second speech memorized. I am looking forward to hearing all the 5th graders running for President or Secretary.
Puberty Education notification went home today. Parents should receive a bright orange announcement regarding Puberty Education to be held the week of November 17th.
World Series Game 1 is tonight. Go Giants! We are asking that we show our support for the local team by wearing orange on Friday. Orange is best, but any Giants' gear or black works as well.

First Day of School
Hooray! Today was the first day of the new school year. It was so exciting to meet everyone. The kids seem great. Everyone seemed excited to be here and ready to learn. We didn't have time to do everything I hoped to do, but we can finish things later. I sent home a letter about myself, and I'll post tonight's homework under the homework tab (above). Here's to a great year!

Welcome to Room 212!
Welcome to the new school year! I've seen my class list and can't wait to meet everyone. There are many familiar faces and I'm excited about beginning the new year. Hopefully parents will complete the family survey, and eventually I'll have all my students signed up for their own blogs. Please take a moment to click on family survey and complete the form to assist me in learning about your child. Learning about technology and digital citizenship will be a new adventure that we will all share this year.
There are many changes at Jefferson this year, and I look forward to working with our new principal, Mr. Poon, and new teachers, Ms. Radwanski (4th) and Ms. Chapman (K).
I hope that this site will become a useful tool for the 212 community. I intend to post field trip info. useful teaching tools, and homework assignments. I hope that this will create a community where we can all feel successful.

Countdown to 2014/15 school year
School starts in 2 weeks! I am sitting in Day 2 of a workshop with Ms. Partika. We're learning how to make our classes more engaging and relevant using technology. Working on our classroom blogs and learning how to add links. Nice to know all SFUSD kids will have their own district email. I got my class list today and I am soooo excited about the new year!

Summer 2014
3rd week of summer vacation and I'm in a workshop learning how to set up a blog for my classroom. It seems like such a great idea being able to communicate on an online forum with my students and families. The reality is that setting up the site seems really time consuming. I won't even know who my students are until August.
I intended to set up a site on Edmodo last year, but never got beyond the first blog. I understand that the district is providing every student with an email account so that should make it easier. I hope my site is able to provide that information when I receive my class list. I would love to follow through on this this year.
